Bank of China (Hong Kong) HZMB (HK Section) Half Marathon

The Bank of China (Hong Kong) Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HK Section) Half Marathon 2025/2026 will utilize the Hong Kong section of the HZMB, the world's longest bridge-tunnel sea crossing, as its race course. The Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA) looks forward to meeting runners at this iconic large-scale sports event every year. This year's race will be held on November 15, 2026. HKAAA will invite elite runners from East Asian countries and regions to compete in Hong Kong alongside local athletes.

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge spans 55 kilometers, connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macao, serving as an important hub in the Greater Bay Area. Travel between Hong Kong and major Pearl River Delta cities takes only three hours, significantly reducing travel time. The bridge is built over the Lingdingyang waters of the Pearl River estuary, providing a magnificent backdrop.

Runners can test their abilities while enjoying the magnificent bridge and the stunning scenery along the route.

About the Organizer - The Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates

Objectives

  • To promote the sport of athletics in Hong Kong, including track & field, road races, cross-country and race walking.
  • To establish and provide a development spectrum for athletes from the grass root leading to elite level.
  • To select athletes in the sport to represent Hong Kong in Olympic Games, Asian Games and World, Asian and Regional Championships, as well as overseas international competitions.
  • To establish and provide systematic training to a national squad of athletes, at both junior and senior levels.
  • To establish systematic structure and trainings for coaches, judges and officials.
  • To organize domestic and international competitions.
  • To support and coordinate athletic activities among member clubs.

Chairman's Message

The Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates (HKAAA) strives to become one of Hong Kong's foremost sports organizations. We promote athletics development by providing secretariat services to affiliated clubs, organizing local and international competitions including track and field, road races, ultramarathons, cross-country, trail running, and race walking, and implementing structured training programs to nurture elite athletes from youth to adulthood, enabling them to represent Hong Kong, China in international events. Concurrently, we offer professional training for coaches, technical personnel, and event teams to enhance the quality of competitions.

In recent years, HKAAA has actively advanced Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, integrating sustainable practices into major events and addressing social priorities such as equality, inclusivity for persons with disabilities, gender equity, youth protection, support for underprivileged communities, and ethical governance.

In the first half of 2025, HKAAA successfully hosted multiple track and field competitions and trail races, providing athletes with high-caliber competitive platforms. The latter half of the year will feature a road racing season, including the annual Hong Kong 10K Championships in October, the Hong Kong Half Marathon Championships in December, and the renowned Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in January 2026.

The 2025 East Asia U20 Athletics Championships, the region's largest youth athletics event, will be hosted by HKAAA in Hong Kong from September 27-28. Over 150 young athletes from eight East Asian teams - China, Japan, Korea, DPR Korea, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, China, and Macau, China will compete.

HKAAA continues to prioritize athlete development through programs such as the Hong Kong Junior Athletics Advanced Training Course and Young Athletes Athletic Training, identifying promising talents and integrating them into the Hong Kong, China team. Specialized training for race walking and marathon disciplines further elevates public engagement and technical standards.

2025 Overseas Achievements: At the 6th Asian U18 Athletics Championships in Saudi Arabia (April), Koo Cheuk Fung Jasper and Kwan Yan Yi secured 2 golds and 1 bronze, breaking Hong Kong U18 records in the Men's 200m and Women's Javelin Throw. At the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, Korea (May), the Men's 4x100m Relay team Chan Yat Lok, Lee Hong Kit, Kwok Chun Ting, Magnus Prostur Johannsson, and Ma King Yeung Antony claimed bronze with 39.10s.

We anticipate further success for the Hong Kong, China team in upcoming international events.

Under the collaborative efforts of the Executive Committee, affiliated clubs, and professionals, HKAAA will continue to unite the industry and drive the advancement of athletics in Hong Kong.
